Enable AVIF support on your engine

ImageEngine has offered support for the AVIF image format using directives (image.png?imgeng=/f_avif) since the early days of AVIF.

If you want to enable AVIF for automatic format conversion, this can be done using the engine setting "Preferred Output Format".

1. Log in to your account at control.imageengine.io 
2. Navigate to the engine where you want to set AVIF as preferred format
3. From the left-hand menu, click "Settings" under the selected engine.
4. Click "Advanced Settings" tab
5. Scroll down to the "Image Formats" section and enable it
6. Click the "Preferred Output Format" option
7. Select "AVIF" from the drop down.
8. Give the setting a name and a path ( /*/** will apply it to everything)
9. Save. (allow the setting a few minutes to propagate to the network)

When AVIF, or any other file format, is chose as the preferred format, ImageEngine will prioritize this format in the conversion chain. The selected format will only be served to browsers with support for the preferred format. If the browser does not support it, ImageEngine will fall back to serve a suitable format.
